Ladies Chemise

Ladies Chemise. Shown under the bidice and skirt is full length. Worn in the 1700's as a main wardrobe item. It was worn in the day as an undergarment and then a night as sleep ware. There is a drawstring at the neck and sleeves, allowing adjustment in size and comfort. Colors are white and off white. 100% cotton muslin. Hand sewn by Cooperstown trading Post.

It was worn in the day as an undergarment and then a night as sleep ware.  Always worn with a shirt and bodice over it.  As the item was next to the body, it afforded less laundering and and lengthened the life of the outer clothes.   There is a drawstring at the neck and sleeves, allowing adjustment in size and comfort.
